On-Farm Antimicrobial Usage Project
New Antibiotic Data Dashboard
We are proud to release a new interactive dashboard of on-farm antimicrobial use data for broiler chickens and turkeys.
Antimicrobial use can contribute to the emergence of antimicrobial drug-resistant organisms.
Scientifically sound antimicrobial use data are vital for understanding the diseases that necessitate therapy and to ensure that antimicrobials are used responsibly. On-farm data provide context, including the reason for use, the dose, the route and duration of administration, the number of birds treated, and the age at time of administration.
Updated Data
We are proud to release updated on-farm antimicrobial use data for U.S. turkeys, broiler chickens, and layer chickens. Data for turkeys and broiler chickens span years 2013-2022 and represent 70% and 85% of annual U.S. production, respectively. Data for layer chickens span years 2016-2022 and represent 45% of annual U.S. table egg production.
This project represents an ongoing partnership among the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, the layer, broiler chicken and turkey companies of the U.S., the National Chicken Council, the National Turkey Federation, United Egg Producers and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Mindwalk Consulting Group, LLC manages the collection of antimicrobial use data for the broiler chicken, layer chicken, and turkey commodities. We collaborate with other groups on the collection of data for pigs and beef and dairy cattle.
